Jr Firefighter: Updated age
Prior to December of 2025, the age for junior firefighters was 16-17 years old. We now encourage anyone 14 years and older, who is interested in joining the fire service to come by and pick up an application!
CHALLENGE COINS FOR SALE!
The Ulah Volunteer Fire Department is now selling new challenge coins to the public. These coins are available online through eBay and in person at the fire station for $10 each, with a small additional cost online due to eBay fees. Please note that all sales support the Ulah Volunteer Fire Department.
These limited-edition coins represent the department’s history and future mission, featuring local landmarks such as the Pisgah Covered Bridge—one of the last two covered bridges in North Carolina—and the Uwharrie National Forest. The design also includes the department’s new patch honoring a former fire chief.

Supplies are limited, and once they are gone, they will not be restocked. The department is currently only selling coins and is not trading them. Thank you for supporting the Ulah Volunteer Fire Department.

The Ulah Fire Department is selling yard address signs for $20.00 (cash or check). These signs help fire, EMS, and police locate your home more quickly during emergencies. You can purchase one by visiting the headquarters fire station at 2067 Pisgah Covered Bridge Road, Asheboro, NC 27205 between 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M., or call to schedule an appointment at a different time.
